The George Athens (In progress..)
The study focuses on establishing a hotel with furnished apartments within a historically significant building located in the heart of Athens, specifically in Monastiraki. The ground floor is designated for the reception area and a dining space complete with a kitchen, while the first floor is allocated for the creation of a spa facility. In the following three levels, 11 apartments are developed. The building has a narrow facade and significant depth. Notable features of the building are the vertical openings of the slabs that are preserved and highlighted. These openings contribute to the introduction of natural light into the interior of the building. The building engages in a dialogue with the Acropolis hill. Visual perspectives towards the hill are achieved from the balconies, the third floor, and the accessible roof. To enhance the brightness of the interior spaces, a thoughtful selection of material combinations has been employed. Furthermore, a specific color palette has been meticulously chosen for the building's facades. Each color corresponds to a particular category of elements that comprise the facade, effectively highlighting both the embossed and protruding architectural features, whether they are in the foreground or background.
