Doctor's Office in Marousi, Athens
The study concerns the renovation of a doctor’s office in Maroussi. The proposal focuses on designing a flexible, adaptable threshold-filter that reflects the character of the space. It aims to organize the space with the minimal synthetic gesture of a single multifunctional and cost-effective furniture element, separating the waiting area from the examination-office. Its detachment from the ceiling allows natural light to diffuse into the without any natural light waiting area through an elongated skylight. Simultaneously, this composition serves storage purposes with counters, cabinets, and a small kitchenette adjacent to the examination area.
To enhance the clarity of the space, white color schemes were chosen, and the existing marble floor was revealed. Additionally, natural wood was used in selected areas, such as the doors as well as in a sliding panel that, when moved, reveals or conceals the section of the kitchenette.
The lighting varies from discreet, soft, and localized in the internal folds of the composition to fully illuminated and sterilized in the examination area when needed.
