Dental Clinic in Drosia, Athens

The architectural study concerns the interior design of a dental clinic (110m2) in a typical apartment building in Drosia, Athens. The dental clinic accommodates the operation of two dentists in a common space. The central idea of the design is to create comfortable spaces that respond to the complex operational issues that are required. The flow and pace of the dental procedures and the stages of the visitor circulation from the moment he enters the room until he leaves the clinic, as well as the laboratory requirements, determined the functional layout of the plan. The main feature of the design choices is the creation of open and bright spaces, clean, free from unnecessary elements and at the same time familiar. The study attempts to solve design issues through low-cost constructive methods and the the choice of materials for the necessary equipment. Particular emphasis is placed on the waiting area and the reception corner, where the furnitures are custom made designs. The construction of the reception furniture from the entrance to the reception desk contributes to the gradual and mild introduction of the visitor into the space. This gesture is reinforced by the curved shape of the furniture, indicating two areas, an inner one, intended for the children's play and one in the negative side for the secretary service.
